The Time Has Come

Treating hot weather the same as lightening

Climate change is real and record hot temperatures are here to stay. There is a point when the human body should not be out the the sun when the heat index exceeds a certain number. Medical professionals know when that is. An excessive heat index is just as if not more dangerous than the threat of lightening.

The governing bodies of golf from the USGA to allied golf organizations to all junior tours should draft and abide by a standard that says "no golf today". These are kids and young people who need to be protected. These bodies have a great safety record when it come to dangerous weather, so let's include heat index in that philosophy.

Weather forecasts are highly accurate even several days ahead. And yes, junior golf is mostly summer golf but if a medical professional says no, too much risk, then proceed with caution. Lets put the players first.
