Choosing A Tournament

How to decide

One of the frequent questions we get here in our office is parents asking "Which tournament should we sign up for?" There are probably a half dozen criteria to use. Let review some of them.
  • When you are researching a tournament take a look at the same tournament last year, or in the case of a tour their other events, and look to see how many players they had, the yardage they played, and the scores it took to finish in the top five. Are you or your player ready to play at that level?
  • How difficult will it be to travel to the event?
  • What are the costs involved?
  • Look at the whole field and make your own judgements as to how strong the players are
  • Finally, what other events are on your schedule and does this event "fit" next to other tournaments you want to play or have you allowed for practice and down time?

Keeping these in mind can help you make the right choices.
