It's a New Year
Lots To Think About

- Players and parents should carefully consider where you/they are in your/their junior golf career. If a junior is not yet in high school, keep it fun and build on the fundamentals of the game. And don't worry about the rankings.
- When is a player ready for tournaments? That depends. When a player can put together two consecutive rounds on their home course, counting every shot, no gimmies, that is equal to the total score of at least a top half finish in what ever tour you are thinking about, then that is a good test. Otherwise wait. Any player should earn it first.
- As college recruiting becomes more in the picture, be realistic about where the "best fit" is. Under our Rankings and Honors menu selection, go to College Signings and you will see the level of talent and what type of school they are going to. There are four years on signings on that page.
- Finally, it is a player's class rank that matters and even there coaches look at a range of players since all players within 50 spots of each other are the same talent wise. No coach recruits a player just because they are ranked 55 ahead of 56 or 66 or 76.
Have fun - play well
